The odds of your gown getting sold is basically 5 times higher when you consign it at our boutique rather than post it online. Here's why:
We're personal and professional: Our curated bridal appointments give every bride-to-be who walks through our door the chance to try on the dress in a relaxed and welcoming environment. They get one-on-one attention from one of our professional bridal stylists who are trained to help brides meet their perfect match (gown-wise, of course).
We do the marketing: Like we said, we do the heavy-lifting and marketing extravaganza for your consignment items on your behalf. Because we also benefit from the sale of your wedding dress or accessories, we post your listing to our Instagram and Facebook pages, and also posting your items with the original retail price and the value that the potential buyer is saving by choosing a gently-used option.
We'll make TikTok videos: On top of our other social media pages, we'll feature your dress or accessories in our TikTok videos and Reels to drum up excitement and inspire other brides-to-be in the country! Our socials have high engagement - we gotta admit that we love this part of the job.

When Caitlin, owner of Hand-Me-Gowns Bridal first opened this humble bridal shop in Downtown Hammonton, she put her own wedding dress up on consignment and it sold within a month! As she mentioned here in this recent interview, her used gown was posted for sale online for ages and never sold. But after she realized her dream and opened Hand-Me-Gowns Bridal in May of 2022, she was able to sell her own dress pretty effortlessly. In her opinion, getting the hands-on and personalized experience at a bridal shop really helps make that sale. Seriously, it's a win-win-win!
Reselling your wedding dress: odds and ends
At Hand-Me-Gowns, we don't like to complicate things. That's why we make it a goal to be upfront with you about how much your wedding dress/accessory will sell for at our bridal shop.
For newer gowns and/or accessories less than 2 years old, we'll provide a 60/40 split. And for all bridal consignment items older than 2 years, we'll provide a generous split of 50/50. Please note that we don't accept any consignment items older than 4 years (that means 2020 or later). Like we mentioned, here's our latest consignment terms and conditions for 2024.
To seal the deal, we'll both agree on a contract so that everyone is on the same page and there's no confusion. It benefits both of us to be on the same page, and it benefits anyone that comes in to our bridal shop that’s interested in the dress, too!
